Cannon Hinnat, a 5 years old jolly boy who was full of life died as he was shot by his neighbour on Sunday morning. The Hinnat family is a resident of North Carolina. Authorities in NC have arrested and charged a man named Darrius Sessoms whose age is reported to be 25 years. The man is not only charged for murder but also for drug abuse in the home three times in the past out of which one is pending still. The family of Cannon Hinnat consisted of his parents and grandparents (parents of his father). On Sunday morning when the family returned from Church after offering prayers, Cannon Hinnat was riding his bike or bicycle in the courtyard of the house. Suddenly Cannon’s Grandfather Austin Hinnant heard a loud boom of a sound. He rushed outside to check and saw his grandson lying on the floor. He picked him in his arms straight away and cried for help. He shouted for asking help and exclaimed, “Please can anyone help my son? Please, God, help my son.” He also saw his neighbour, Darrius Sessoms panicking and running his house but did not know he would have killed him
Later in the day, Police started searching for Darrius Sessoms as a suspect of murder and was later arrested at a house half an hour from Cannon’s house. He was charged felony for having ammunition and drugs at his house. On the hearing of this case on Tuesday, Darrius Sessoms requested to the Judge for an attorney instead of a public defender. The Hinnat’s reported they never had any arguments with their neighbour and had friendly relations with him. Cannon’s mother Wadell and grandmother Gwen Hinnant conveyed that they just don’t see any reason as to why Darrius would kill their son.
The social media was trending as the news got out through some media outlet and people were demanding Justice was little Cannon Hinnat. The racial discrimination has also been associated with the murder case by the netizens as Darrius was a black guy but Hinnat family refuses to believe so.
