Hillsborough County

All three COVID-19 Resource sites in Hillsborough County will be open.

Progress Village Park, 8701 Progress Blvd., Tampa will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m for COVID-19 testing site visitors! No appointments are necessary; just show up and take care of your business with our friendly staff members who are ready to help you any way they can during this period (9 am – 5 pm).

Hillsborough Community College’s Brandon campus will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and it is conveniently located off East Columbus Drive! No appointments are necessary at this COVID-19 testing site; just head on down to 10451 Nancy Watkins Drive for your tests today (or any other day).

On MLK Day ‘Closed ‘

The unincorporated Hillsborough County Solid Waste Service Area will no longer have garbage, recycling, and yard waste collections.

The disposal sites (community collection centers, yards, and wood waste processing facilities) will be closed. All other County offices and facilities are closed. All Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative libraries are closed. The Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center is closing for the week. All Hillsborough County’s customer service centers will be closed on Thursday, January 16th to allow employees time off for the Martin Luther King Holiday. On MLK Day ‘Open’

All of the city’s conservation parks will be open. Skateparks, dog areas, and splash pads are also back in action this season! The Emergency Rental Assistance Program call center at 866-375-9114 is available to help tenants find temporary homes when theirs isn’t quite ready for winter conditions or if they need some extra space during peak times like holiday weekdays (the rental assistance staff can give you more information on what types of housing might suit your needs).

Tampa’s City

Get ready to enjoy an extra relaxing day off from work on Monday, November 27! The City of Tampa offices will be closed for this holiday.

The new collection schedule for this week is as follows:

  • Customers who normally receive garbage, recycling, or yard waste service on Mondays will not have it this week. The company says they’ll be back at their normal time next Tuesday, Jan 18th! It’s important to note that these changes are only temporary- residential customers should expect usual collection days between January 25 through February 22nd when normal schedules resume again.”
  • We apologize for any inconvenience. The commercial customer’s collection service will be running one day behind through Saturday, Jan 22nd; regular schedules should resume Monday 24th January!
  • In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, birthday we’ll be closed on Monday, January 16th, and reopen with regular hours Tuesday 18th at 9 am. The transfer station in McKay Bay is closed for a special occasion this coming weekend- celebrate a globally recognized human rights leader who made an impact worldwide by being one person against impossible odds!

Terrace Temple

Tempe will be a little quieter on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with many businesses shutting their doors and some city government offices closing as well.

Expressway Selmon

Temple Terrace will be collecting garbage and recycling on MLK Day, but citizens should remember that city government offices are also closed.
