andhra pradesh coronavirus news: Andhra reports 9, 742 Covid-19 cases, death toll crosses 2,900 mark

Andhra Pradesh on reported 9,742 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, after it posted over-10,000 new infections five consecutive days a week ago and three consecutive days in the earlier week.

The number of recoveries since Tuesday morning stood at 8,061 and deaths due to the disease at 86, according to a state bulletin on Wednesday evening.

Andhra’s tally of Covid-19 cases has reached 316,003 that includes 86,725 active cases, 226,372 recoveries, and 2,906 deaths.

The state Covid-19 command control room said 57,685 samples were tested in the state in the 24 hours since Tuesday morning, taking the total to 30,19,286 tests thus far–the fourth-highest in India after Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.

East Godavari (1,399) and Anantapur (1,123) reported new Covid-19 cases in four-digits, while the rest 11 districts of Andhra registered three-digit cases.

Andhra Pradesh has reported 56,541 tests per million persons, as against the national average of 22,886 tests. The state’s rate of new positive cases by Wednesday morning stood at 10.47% compared with the national average of 8.72%.

The recovery rate in Andhra stood at 71.64% by Wednesday morning as against the national average of 73.64%. The mortality rate stood at 0.92% as compared with the national average of 1.91%.
