According to a recent report from Bleeping Computer, the latest bug in the windows for ‘Defragment and Optimize with Windows‘. More so, now this will mean that as an attempt to reboot your computer, it will defragment your SSD. This is not great news for any software. Microsoft is currently fixing this bug on its operating system. One of the upsides of the SSDs over the HDD is its long lifespan because it is not a moving part. Now, what would be the harm of defragmenting? This will hurt the lifespan of the drive. More so, every time you try to reboot, your drive is defragging.

Microsoft is currently trying to fix the bug with an upcoming update. But as for experts, who are working on reaching out to the masses, they’re defining possible causes. However, the most affected will be those who turn their computers on and off every day. Once the system is turned off, it tells the computer that the device is up for a reboot. Now, you can guess what severe damage could be inflicted on their SSDs since they will be defragging every time. There is no possible way to ensure it doesn’t happen.
