FX has renewed Snowfall for a fourth season.

The announcement came at a recent Television Critics Association event held in Los Angeles, California, and was part of the FX network’s spate of summer renewals for their most acclaimed shows, including Atlanta featuring Donald Glover, better known by his stage name Childish Gambino.

Starring English actor Damson Idris, Snowfall is a crime drama set in the heart of California during the 1980s, a period when the influx of narcotics into the United States reached a zenith and became a social and cultural phenomenon unmatched before or after. During this time, an ensemble of characters decide to make a living by selling cocaine, and the series portrays their experiences in an anthology format of sorts.

Season Three of Snowfall only debuted back in July and is set to run till the end of September, and that FX has decided to renew it even before the most recent outing’s conclusion is a testament to the series’ sustained fame and popularity since debuting back in the summer of 2017.

Written by Eric Amadio and Dave Andron, Snowfall was brought to life on television with the help of series co-creator John Singleton, who passed away back in April at the age of 51 due to a stroke.

One of Hollywood’s few creative forces belonging to a racial minority, Singleton achieved fame in 1991 with the release of Boyz ‘n the Hood starring Ice Cube and Cuba Gooding Jr., and became a frontrunner for that year’s Academy Awards instantaneously, even earning Singleton a nomination for Best Director, making him the youngest person to ever do so at the age of just 24.

The first three seasons of Snowfall can be streamed on Hotstar.
