Strike the Blood is a Japanese light novel series, written by Gakuto Mikumo. It consists of 22 main volumes. It is made especially for the male audience. ASCII Media Works first published the novel in May 2011. The novel was later serialised in the form an anime series in October 2013. The first season consisted of 24 episodes and was aired on AT-X network. The series has an overall Imdb rating of 7.1 out of 10.
Later, the second season aired from November 2016. The latest season was the fourth season which started airing from April this year.
It is interesting to note that the Series is banned in China since 2015.
STORYLINE:
The series is set on Itogami Island, a man-made Island located South of Japan. The island has been developed into a Demon and monster sanctuary. The story revolves around Kojo Akatsuki, an ordinary high schooler. He is suspected to be the fourth “Progenitor”. Progenitors are powerful vampires. Three progenitors were already present who were ruling the world and a fourth would have disrupted the balance of power.
As a result, the three existing progenitors send an apprentice sword-shaman, Yukina Himeragi to investigate the matter. He is sent to the same high school to befriend Kojo and to ascertain whether he is really who he is rumoured to be. Kojo, on the other hand, is reluctant to use his vampire superpowers as he can barely control them.
However, Yukina and Kojo become good friends and form a great partnership. They start protecting the city from various negative powers.
RELEASE DATE:
The fourth season of the series starting airing from April 2020 and is due to be finished only by June next year. However, fans are still eagerly excited and looking forward to the next season. There has not been any official confirmation as to whether the series will be renewed for a fifth season or not. However, looking at the popularity of the series and the eagerness of fans, it seems highly probable that a fifth season will be made.
