The production committee explained that they have allotted enough time, but the lockdown in Japan due to the ongoing pandemic disease (COVID-19) greatly affected their production schedules. Japan only recently lifted the state of emergency nationwide on Tuesday.

The first quarter of the second season has been delayed from October 2020 to January 2021, while the second quarter is delayed from April 2021 to July 2021. The television anime of Shiba’s spinoff manga ‘The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensura Nikki Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken)’ has also been delayed from January 2021 to April 2021. The creators along with 8Bit are still going to produce these series and manga even after this delay.

It could be greatly argued that the isekai anime section has been filled with stories about overpowered characters gathering up harems in alternate worlds. TenSura is an original concept even if it follows some of the standard groups of the genre. The character development is more interesting than usual as the main focus is on Japanese man Satoru Mikami’s reincarnation in a fantasy realm as a blind slime monster. Suit-wearing funnyman who turned into an overpowered slime Rimuru Tempest is hardly a blunt potato-kun. Similar to Momonga/Ainz Ooal Gown, Rimuru’s personality quirks of the main character and the way he uses his powers is what drives the story.
