What better way to show off your passion for gaming than with a custom PS5 console cover? Sony has finally released their swappable covers in midnight black and cosmic red, after threatening legal action against Dbrand who beat them out of releasing colors earlier this year. The new designs are vibrant which makes me excited about what else they’ll offer down the line!
When I got to slap some of these new console covers on my PS5, helping me see the device in a different light and giving myself some much-needed practice at removing them (it still feels less intuitive than it should). There isn’t much here for discussion; they’re color swaps from what comes preinstalled with just microscopic face button symbols instead. Oh yeah – each set costs $54.99 so your journey for an aesthetically pleasing version will cost nearly as many games!
The PS5 might not be the most natural addition to your entertainment center, but if you can find an all-black version it will look a lot better than those bright white plates.
And even though the black and red options are limited, there are still a lot of combinations you can make with them! You’ll be able to try out different outfits by mixing in some purple or pink for instance.
Of course, it would be great to see Sony release the PS5 with some of these fresh colors pre-installed, instead of only offering an all-white console. But after feeling burnt by their lack in bringing swappable hard drive covers for the original PlayStation 4 here overseas – I’m glad they are finally releasing interesting hue options on next-generation gaming devices! So long as the company keeps updating us regularly through releases and promotions like this one (or whatever else) then maybe eventually you might just find yourself tempted into buying another new system every so often…
