The Indian Premier League 2020 had to be the closest IPL in several ways since the team finishing last and the team qualifying at fourth position had just a difference of two points between them. Players In Probability That Are To Be Retained in IPL Kolkata Knight Riders 2021:
DNA expects: “When the name of this franchise comes up, the names of two players content with the side also spring up i.e., of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. Along with the West Indian duo, KKR would most likely retain their batting core of skipper Eoin Morgan, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, and Rahul Tripathi. And, a late replacement in Tim Seifert, who has performed brilliantly for New Zealand in T20Is, KKR might want to retain him as an overseas opener’s option, who can keep as well. Also likely to get retained will be the pace battery of Prasidh Krishna, Lockie Ferguson, Shivam Mavi, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti, along with the star of the season for them, Varun Chakravarthy.”
While, the players that we thought would be released after 2020, are:
After the sudden mid-season captaincy swap and low performance in runs, a probable player to be released was Dinesh Kartik. Yet another Indian international who was expected to be chucked off the 2021 squad list may be Kuldeep Yadav. KKR might have had also released the INR15.5 crore worth player Pat Cummins. Other players who could also have been released from the squad are Chris Green, Tom Banton, Siddhesh Lad, Nikhil Naik, and M Siddhartha. But this dint happen. who will be in the IPL Kolkata Knight Riders 2021list of players?
Actual Unexpected Releases:
Despite an underwhelming IPL 2020, two-time IPL Champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) decided against making any major changes as they retained both Dinesh Karthik and Kuldeep Yadav. While Karthik had stepped down from the captaincy during the previous season, Kuldeep hasn’t been a regular member of the playing XI since IPL 2019.
In total, KKR released 7 players, out of which only 3 players made it to the playing XI in IPL 2020. Now led by Eoin Morgan, KKR will have an uphill task at the IPL Kolkata Knight Riders 2021 auction as they need to get their combination right to repeat their heroics – KKR hasn’t even played a final since 2014. Ahead of the all-important auction, here’s a look at 3 players of the IPL Kolkata Knight Riders 2021 trading window:
Target Players IPL Kolkata Knight Riders 2021:
Chris Lynn: Chris Lynn, currently a player of team Mumbai Indians might be on KKR’s list after having disappointing opening innings by Shubman Gill last year. For the second running year, Lynn is expected to spend an IPL season on the bench and he might be ready to move to his old franchise if they ask for the trade.
Lungi Ngidi: KKR only has two overseas pacers in their line-up and will need at least one more foreign pace bowler as a backup to the two. Lungi Ngidi, who only played 4 matches for Chennai Super Kings last year, is a young and budding option that KKR might consider if at all, they want to come back strong. Ngidi who has 20 wickets in 11 matches, but as expressed, is quite tired to just sit around and wait, which be a budding opportunity for KKR.
Amit Mishra: KKR does have two leg-spin options in Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav, however, both of them are inexperienced and will need a senior in case things don’t go their way. KKR also needs at least one senior leg-spinner and they might inquire about Amit Mishra, an IPL veteran who is the tournament’s second-highest wicket-taker with 160 scalps. Mishra will not just lead their spin attack, but can also groom youngsters for the future. Will the above-mentioned players will be on the list of players of IPL Kolkata Knight Riders 2021?
Strategy 2021 KKR:
The co-owned team of Shah Rukh Khan, led by Eion Morgan is left with a budget of only Rs 10.75 crores, which is the lowest, along with Sunrisers Hyderabad. KKR has eight slots available including two overseas places available. So what will their strategy be for the mini-auction in Chennai?
Well, Insidesport says: “There are not many batsmen who can instill fear into bowlers heart in IPL. And Russell sits right in the top three of this list — along with Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard. The West Indies batsman can send the ball over the ropes from the very first ball. However, 2020 was not a very productive year for 5 ft 11 inch 32-year-old. In 10 games he scored mere 117 runs at an average of 13 runs. This was his lowest score in the last five IPL editions. His fitness has been a concern for KKR, and they lack a back-up for the power-hitting all-rounder. There will not be many players available at the auctions who can replace him. But there a some who can be a good backup plan if Russell gets injured or struggles with form.
