The Metropolitan Museum of Art is holding the traditional Met Ball this year despite the ongoing pandemic, and attendees are expected to follow safety protocols in place.
The Met Gala is coming back! Organizers of the event, which attracts some of the most beautiful and wealthy individuals in New York City every year for a fundraising gala, have recently made an official statement that they plan to hold this years’ party on September 13. As preparations are underway before then, excitement over what could happen at next year’s show has picked up as well.
The Met Ball is one of the most anticipated events in New York City, but this year will be unlike any other. The event has been cancelled for 2017 due to new vaccine mandates and safety regulations enforced by NYC’s government following Hurricane Sandy.
The world’s most exclusive party may not be such a good time for the unvaccinated. The Met has announced that those who show up to this year’s Costume Institute Gala will need their COVID-19 shot before they can enter, as mandated by health officials.
The Met will be screening attendees to make sure they are vaccinated against the coronavirus before entering. Those who have not gotten their shot beforehand may need to reschedule, since there is a limited supply of vaccinations for COVID-19 at this time.
For their safety, guests will be required to wear masks and they won’t take them off unless it’s for eating or drinking. Other restrictions might also come into place depending on the city guidelines
Attendees to the event will be required not only a vaccine, but also masks. They can take them off when they are eating and drinking but other restrictions may come into play depending on city guidelines.
“Currently, all attendees at The Met Gala on September 13 must provide proof of full vaccination and will also be expected to wear masks indoors except when eating or drinking. We will update these guidelines as needed,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying.
The menu for the Met Gala has been revealed! Women’s Wear Daily is reporting that Anna Wintour tapped the services of a group of culinary chefs to create an entirely vegan-friendly, plant-based meal.
