He then goes to his school and enrolls himself in the volleyball team. But the irony is that he becomes the first and only member of the team. He then starts convincing others to join the team and by the time he is in his last year of school, he manages to make a team. They participate in a tournament and are crushingly defeated in the first match itself.
Shoyo now moves to high school. He joins Karasuno High School, the high school of his Idol. Here, he meets Tobio Kageyama, a very good volleyball player. They soon form a very good pair. The condition of the school’s volleyball team had deteriorated drastically after “The Little Giant” had left. They now embark on a journey to take the team back to its great heights and qualify for the nationals.
