The Old Guard: Netflix’s The Old Guard hints at a sequel during the ending of the movie, Know more detail about this series …

The Old Guard (2020) is an American superhero film directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. It was written by Greg Rucka under the same name of his comic book. The plot focuses on a group of mercenaries, all centuries-old immortals who discover someone is onto their secret, and so must fight to protect their freedom. They also come with the ability to heal themselves.

Although Charlize Theron leads a squad of immortal mercenaries, this isn’t exactly a superhero movie. Rather, it’s a comic book one. Hence, we see how it follows a time-honored tradition by teasing the viewers with a sequel towards the ending. Greg Rucka, co-creator of The Old Guard comic and screenwriter of the film, told that his intentions weren’t just about hinting at a sequel. Instead, there are many other things like how our immortal heroes don’t know anything about their past.

Director Gina Prince-Bythewood revealed in one of the entertainment portal interviews, that no plans to turn the superhero into a franchise were originally made. But it could happen, she added. She also mentioned that the plan was to start a trilogy. “I know Greg Rucka

always envisioned this as a trilogy. I also know where the story goes; it’s pretty great. So if the audience is eager for it, there’s more to tell.”

If Netflix decides to confirm the sequel, it will be unlikely to see it next year, so we’ll probably look at it by 2022.

There’s generally a two-year gap between movies for any Netflix Original which has got a sequel. Also, with the current global situation affecting movie production, filming will probably not be able to start until 2021.
