Who would have thought that Troy Bolton could do more than just sing? The infamous Zac Efron is now a travel show host. After his last acting role as Ted Bundy in Netflix’s Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, he decided to start a different kind of project. The new Netflix series, Down to Earth with Zac Efron will air on Friday, July 10th, 2020. We will find him to “journey around the world with wellness expert Darin Olien in search of healthy, sustainable ways to live.”

Is it a reality series per se though? Not really. But what makes this show different compared to the other travel series is that it specifically focuses on sustainability and fighting against climate change. “The Earth will always be here,” Efron ends the first episode, “we just might not be able to live on it for too long.” From Puerto Rico to France, to Iquitos, and Iceland, Efron sets out to make this world a better place and to also try his hand at eating dung-smoked lamb bacon.
As the actor explains in his show’s trailer, Down to Earth focuses on “food, water, and energy… the main products for modern life.” Throughout the episodes, he and his co-star, Olien will meet people working to change how humans can consume all three to be more sustainable.
Darin Olien is an exotic superfoods hunter, supplement formulator, and the author of “SuperLife: The Five Fixes That Will Make You Healthy, Fit, and Eternally Awesome.” He even created a “21-day detoxification program.”
Sources say that the Hollywood actor had been traveling across the globe before the pandemic outbreak and lockdown. Perhaps it was for the new project. Either way, he has been very vocal about bringing in a change to help the environment. But will this show help the cause? That’s up to the viewers to decide. Down To Earth is now available on Netflix for all streamers to enjoy.
