Biden Administration will Protect Gay, Transgender Against Health Care and Also Discrimination, Here’s how

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced that gay or transgender people will be protected against sex discrimination in health care, reversing the policy set by previous administrations. HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra cited a provision which is now part of Obamacare to ensure protections against sexual discrimination in health care back when he spoke with CNN this morning: “So now it’s clear– there’s no ambiguity– you cannot discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity.”

The Biden administration has announced a plan to protect gay, transgender people against discrimination in health care. This is due to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and will be enforced by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The ACA says that no person can be denied coverage or treated differently because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Biden Announcement

Joe Biden, a Democratic presidential candidate has vowed to protect gay and transgender people against discrimination in the health care system.
“We need to do more than just fight for equality,” he says. “We have to win it.”
Biden’s plan is based on his own experience as vice president when President Obama signed an executive order prohibiting federal contractors from discriminating against LGBT employees and their families.
He also wants to end conversion therapy, which is a form of psychological treatment that aims to change the sexual orientation or gender identity of LGBTQ+ youth by using techniques such as electric shock or inducing vomiting while viewing same-sex erotic images.

In a time when the LGBT community is under attack, Vice President Joe Biden has stepped up to the plate and promised to protect this vulnerable group against any potential health care case.
